About & data credits
This is a collection of independent, fan-made sports drafting games. In each one you draft an all-time roster through a team × era × position slot machine, then run an era-adjusted simulation to see whether your lineup could survive a perfect, undefeated season. They are love letters to sports history, not official products.
How ratings are built
Across every game, each player-season is normalized within its own era and position so legends from different decades compete on a level sheet — and a multi-season blend (peak weighted with the season at hand) keeps all-time greats from cratering in a late-career or early-career year. Team scores combine position pillars with a chemistry bonus and a bottleneck penalty, so a single weak pillar is genuinely costly. Ranked results are computed on the server from your roster, so the same lineup always earns the same record. Player and team names are facts used for identification only; no team or school logos, trade dress, or player photographs are used.
Data sources by game
- Backcheck (NHL hockey) — counting stats from the official NHL Stats API(~4,000 players / ~34,000 player-seasons), plus modern advanced metrics (expected goals, Corsi, and goalie GSAx for 2008–present) from MoneyPuck.com. Data courtesy of MoneyPuck.com — we gratefully acknowledge their work.
- Walk-Off Baseball (MLB) — historical batting, pitching, and fielding records from the Lahman Baseball Database / Baseball Databank, an open community dataset covering every season of Major League Baseball.
- Play Action Football(NFL) — modern player and team data (1999–present) from the open-source nflverse project, supplemented by a curated layer of pre-1999 legends drawn from Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees, All-Pro selections, and award winners.
- Campus Classic Football (NCAA football) — a curated dataset of all-time college legends compiled from public records of Heisman Trophy winners, consensus All-Americans, national champions, and College Football Hall of Fame honorees across every era.
- Campus Classic Basketball (NCAA basketball) — a curated dataset of all-time college legends compiled from public records of Naismith / Wooden Award winners, consensus All-Americans, national champions, and Final Four Most Outstanding Players across every era.
Historical reference cross-checking is done manually; no third-party dataset is scraped or redistributed. These games are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NHL, MLB, NFL, NCAA, their players’ associations, conferences, teams, or universities. All marks belong to their respective owners and are referenced for identification only.
